Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

What is IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is an advanced, 30 minute in-office treatment designed to improve the health of the eyelids and support long-term eye comfort. It is particularly effective for patients with chronic dry eye disease or meibomian gland dysfunction, conditions often driven by inflammation along the eyelid margins.

How it Helps

IPL reduces inflammation by targeting tiny blood vessels that contribute to irritation. This allows the meibomian glands to function better, producing healthier oils that stabilize the tear film. As a result, patients often experience less dryness, burning, and irritation, along with improved comfort, and reduced crusting along the lash line, especially for contact lens wearers. It can also enhance the skin around the eyes by reducing redness and improving overall tone.

Dry eye is a chronic condition, so ongoing care is important. A series of IPL treatments, along with maintenance sessions, helps keep inflammation under control and supports long-term gland function. Regular care leads to more stable tears, lasting comfort, and healthier eyes over time.
